Donald Anthony Nelson, 82, of Burnet, TX passed away Sunday, Sept. 6th, 2015. Don was born on Sept. 2, 1933 in Bronxville, New York to Fritz and Bobbie Nelson.
Don met Charlene, the love of his life, in high school. They married on Aug. 12, 1954. Don and Charlene have enjoyed 61 years as best friends and partners.
Don joined the Army and served as a mechanics specialist from Nov. 29, 1956 to Nov. 26, 1958. He was employed by the State Board of Plumbing Examiners as Chief Examiner in Austin for over 28 years. He retired in August of 1995.
Don leaves behind his loving wife Charlene Ushe Nelson, a sister Joan Blackmon from Dripping Springs, Texas, sons Randy Nelson and wife Ginger Nelson of Austin, Rick Nelson and wife Jackie Nelson of Boulder, Colo. and Ronnie Nelson of Austin. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Tiffany David of Nashville, TN and her husband Chris, Sam Nelson of Austin, Jonathan Barr of Dripping Springs, TX, Colleen Nelson of Austin, Hillary Barr of Austin, and four great grandchildren.
He enjoyed RVing with friends and traveling extensively throughout the United States. He loved being on the lake with family and friends in his boat named Its Only Money. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at 11:00 am at East Lake Fellowship, 13218 RR 2341 Burnet, TX. Graveside services will be held immediately following at Lakeland Hills Cemetery, 4219 Park Road 4S Burnet, TX.
