Fred Pipes, Jr, 83 of Burnet, Texas passed away on January 10, 2015. He was a son of Fred and Lorene (Wakefield) Pipes, Sr. He was born on September 30, 1931 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an oil related industries fabricator and welder. He owned and operated Pipes Bait and Tackle on Padre Island, Texas and also built boats. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Fred attended Highland Lakes Church of Christ in Kingsland, Texas,He was a member of the American Legion, National Rifle Association and the Texas State Rifle Association, and served as a volunteer fireman. He was married to Christina Chapa on December 26, 1953.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Christina Pipes of Burnet, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and John Aucock, granddaughter, Meredith Anne Aucock all of Houston, Texas, brothers and sisters, Martha Barnes and Gene Pipes of Huntsville, Texas, Wilson Pipes of San Antonio, Texas, Louise Fish, Norma Scott and Jeff Pipes all of Burnet, Texas, numerous nephews and nieces also survive.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Olivia Katherine Aucock.
Visitations will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Putnam Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held.at the Highland Lakes Church of Christ, Highway 1431, Kingsland, Texas at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Joe Winnett officiating. Graveside services will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, in Burnet, Texas with Mr. Winnett and the Highland Lakes Honor Guard officiating.An online guest register may be signed at www.PutnamCares.com.
