Gordon Lester Tryon, 85, of Kingsland, Texas passed away May 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to John Lester and Dorothy Gladys (Boone) Tryon on June 10, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas.

Mr. Tryon married Nancy Jo Caldwell on August 16, 1952 in Amarillo, Texas and she proceeds him in death. He was one of the original NASCAR drivers and became an avid fan. His all-time favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt and later Dale Earnhardt Jr. It is unclear if he enjoyed fishing or just sitting on the bank of a river watching the water pass. Regardless, he loved being outdoors. The roar of an engine excited the internal mechanic within Gordon, and he enjoyed sharing with other motor enthusiasts. He loved his family and kept a running count of his 34 grandchildren. He also volunteered for CASA by keeping up with the building maintenance and lawn.

He is survived by his children Diana Tryon and husband Mike Goss, of Kingsland, Texas, Tracy Wyche and husband Gerald, of Hobbs, New Mexico, Deedee Laramore and husband Vic, of Pampa, Texas, daughter-in-law, Robin Tryon, of Amarillo, Texas, nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and sister Sue Brady, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nancy Jo Tryon, son, Keith Tryon, and brother Doug Tryon.

A visitation will be 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Thursday May 23, 2019 at Putnam Funeral Home – Kingsland location. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Friday May 24, 2019 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
