Ina Lois Thomas Kindred passed to her Lord and Savior on April 9, 2017, after a lengthy illness. Lois was born September 25, 1920, in Henderson, Texas, to James P. and Minnie Thomas. She married Herbert L. Kindred, Jr. in the early 1940's, and in 1947 they had a son, Samuel Leonard Kindred. The family moved to Burnet in the 1950's, and during the late 1970's and early 1980's they owned and operated the Shopette Drive In and the Bertram Food Sales in Bertram. Lois did the ordering and kept the books for the Food Sales, and was well known by the Burnet County Police for dashing quickly each morning and evening between her home in Burnet and their store in Bertram. She loved Christmas, and plying her family with the best pies in Texas. In the summers, she grew a profusion of flowers in her front yard.
