Obituary

Jackie Trainer, age 88, passed away peacefully on Jan. 26, 2016 in her home in Dunedin, New Zealand, accompanied by her son Randall Trainer and her devoted caregiver, Nell Baker.
She was born in Memphis, Texas to George Lafayette Pounds and Lillie Mae Conwell Pounds, who died when Jackie was five. Her stepmothers were May, Florene, and Nellora Pounds. She was preceded in death by her brother Douard Pounds and her sister Jarita Moore, and is survived by her sister Voncille Ford.
Her name at birth was Jaquelee Nell, but very early she changed that to Jackie. She loved Jesus Christ, and was a faithful member of the Churches of Christ. She graduated from Abilene Christian College (now University) in elementary education. She taught for one year in Midland, Texas, where she then worked in the office of Schlumberger. There in 1949 she met and married the love of her life, oil man CW Trainer. They were utterly devoted to one another for almost 60 years, until his death in 2009.
They have three children, Randall Mark Trainer, Terri Jan Trainer Smith, and Michael Shea Trainer, and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She will be missed by many kinfolk, friends, and associates.
She and CW lived in Midland, Texas at the beginning and end of their marriage, as well as in Russell, KS, Snyder, TX, Fort Worth, TX, Hobbs, NM, Oak Hill, TX, Sunrise Beach, TX, and Scottsdale, AZ.
She had considerable business sense and was an important advisor to CWs oil and water companies. She also started and ran two businesses of her own, New Locations, and Birdland. She was long active in patriotic, political, and charitable causes. She and CW helped each other survive many severe illnesses and adversities in their life. Despite her bereavement at the loss of CW, she went on to new adventures and challenges. Desiring to try life overseas, she joyfully visited about 50 countries on five continents before deciding on New Zealand.
After God, her family, and friends, her life was focused on beauty, especially natural beauty. She loved flowers, birds, animals, trees, mountains, rivers, lakes, and the sea. Her home bespoke her love of good art, music, architecture, and interior design. All her life she was a great fan of John Wayne, her other love.
She had a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. In her latter years she attained remarkable peace, forgiveness, contentment, and joy.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 oclock A.M. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland, Texas. Burial will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, between Kingsland and Burnet, Texas.
