Mr. Joe Bob Simmons, 78, of Kingsland, Texas died November 7, 2015. He was born to Joe Hood and Wanda (Penny) Simmons on May 27, 1937 in Graham, Texas.

Mr. Simmons was a very meticulous machinist. Engineers would often take bets for how long it would take Joe to find the errors. He loved his paper and read the funnies and crossword puzzles and would always wear a shirt with a pocket to carry cookies. It was very important for him to do the right thing, even if it wasnt always popular. He was a member of the Dukes Hot Rod Club, and was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts. He served six years in the National Guard and worked in the Armory.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, whom he married on May 23, 1958, of Kingsland, Texas, three daughters, Penney Garrett and her husband, Mark of Kingsland, Texas, Donna Gore and her husband, Jeff of Silver Valley, Texas, and Tammi Goins and her husband, Terry of Gatesville, Texas, grandchildren, Tessa Garrett of Kingsland, Texas, Lane Garrett and his wife, Christine, of Austin, Texas, Addie Barnett and her husband, R.J. of Abilene, Texas, Molly Gore Merck and her husband Danny of Abilene, Texas, Drew Goins and his wife, Lauren of Evant, Texas and Callie Goins of Gatesville, Texas, eight great grandchildren, and two sisters, Catherine Roberts of McDade, Texas, and Janet Basey and her husband Mark of Liberty Hill, Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 oclock P.M. to 6:00 oclock P.M. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Putnam Funeral Home and Crematory, 145 Texas Avenue, Kingsland, Texas 78639. A funeral service is planned for 2:00 oclock P.M. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church, 19135 E. Highway 29, Buchanan Dam, Texas. Reverend Steve Leftwich will officiate. Internment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, Park Road 4, Burnet, Texas. An online register may be signed at www.PutnamCares.com.
