Obituary

John Thomas "Tom" Grohman, 82, of Burnet, Texas, passed away on November 30, 2018. He was born on August 22, 1936 to Frank Emil and Hedwig (Seidel) Grohman in San Antonio, Texas.

Tom was a very private man who would prefer to let others do the talking while he listened. Rather than share a detailed history of his upbringing, career and accomplishments, Tom will be honored by who he was in the eyes of his family.

Tom was very meticulous and intelligent. He enjoyed working with his hands and would often be found tinkering out in his garage. He was a good mechanic and was skilled in woodworking. He applied his skills to use in caring for his family when he built the home that they own and live in to this day. He deeply loved his family. While he wasn't much for conversation, Tom had many other ways of sharing his big heart of love with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his them. He and his wife, Audrey, often took spontaneous drives on the back-country roads of the Texas Hill Country – no destination in mind…just breathing in the beauty of the present.

Over the last decade, Tom struggled with an illness that limited his ability to go and do. Most would never know the extent of what he endured, however, because Tom never complained. Even on his most difficult days, he remained a steady pillar of support and love to his family.

The home that he built with his own hands, that provided a peaceful shelter in his final days, now remains as a constant reminder of the love and devotion Tom felt for his wife Audrey and family. Tom leaves behind a legacy of love and quiet strength that will be forever cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Tom is survived by his wife Audrey Grohman of Burnet, Texas; sons Ronald Wayne Grohman of Castroville, Texas, Mark Steven Grohman of San Antonio, Texas, and Jeffrey Alan Grohman of Bulverde, Texas; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Patricia Cloud and brothers Bill and Marvin Grohman.

He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Thomas Grohman.
