Obituary

Lori Jean Lacy was born June 16, 1961 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Surrounded by family in Georgetown, she left us April 22, 2018 after eight years of meeting head-on the challenges of breast cancer.

She is survived by her family Bill Lacy and Wendy Palomo, her Aunt Kino of Missouri, and Cousin Jay Barksdale of Houston. She was preceded in death by her mother Jean A. Lacy and her younger brother Russell Lacy. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs Toby and Katy.

Lori's entire life focused on people she loved, her travels, her dogs and her involvement with several nonprofits. She always gave more of herself than what was required. She inspired us all to live our lives the way she lived hers, with laughter, a lot of travel, and much love. In the process, she became a large part of the lives of everyone who knew her.

The family gives our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Beth Hellerstedt of Texas Oncology in Round Rock for the years of loving care and attention given to Lori. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to the countless friends who have supported Lori since she received her breast cancer diagnosis. She became involved with the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) in 2009 when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She not only received support from the BCRC but her enormous heart also gave support to fellow survivors/lifers and she volunteered with the BCRC whenever she was not traveling the world. Cancer expanded her circle of friends and provided more opportunities for her to warm the lives of others.

In lieu of flowers, you might consider a contribution to Lori's charity Breast Cancer Resource Center. An anonymous donor will match up to $25,000 raised in Lori's honor. Donations can be made online at https://bcrc.org/donate/ or mailed to: BCRC 4807 Spicewood Springs Road Bldg 1 Suite 1100 Austin, TX 78759

Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 am Sunday April 29, 2018 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6100 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752 with reception to immediately follow. Guests are invited to share loving stories and memories of Lori. Burial will be Monday April 30, 2018 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Marble Falls at 11 am.
