Ona Johnston Collum went to her Maker on February 18, 2018 at the age of 98. Ona was born on October 1, 1919 in Richland Springs, Texas to Duria and Joe Roberds.
She and her husband Stanton (Shorty) Johnston spent many happy years on their ranch in Burnet raising cattle and goats. Stanton preceded her in death in 1993 and she married Albion (Jack) Collum in 1997. They resided together in Burnet for nearly 20 years. Jack preceded her in death in 2017.
Ona had four sisters: Neverette, Dona, Alvis and Nora. They all preceded her in death. She was the last remaining Roberds girls. Ona was not blessed with children; however, she was loved by her many nieces and nephews. Her niece, Twanna died in 2010 and her nephew, Wallace died in 2016.
Her remaining nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces enjoyed visiting with her and having 'high balls' with her and Jack in her later years. She was a precious being and she will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 301 E. Graves Street, Burnet, TX 78611.,
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 22, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Clement Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 East Polk, Burnet, Texas. Memorial service will be at First United Methodist Church, 301 E. Graves Street, Burnet, Texas at 10:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2018.
